Meet Pastor LIsa Anderson:
The Rev. Lisa Anderson
Pastor, Teacher and Musician
Pastor Lisa has served St John Lutheran Church since December 1, 2006. A native of Massachusetts, she graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina in 1998 and was ordained on June 6, 1998. She has served as the pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shaftsbury, Vermont and Trinity Lutheran in Concord, North Carolina. She also served as the Associate Pastor of Augsburg Lutheran Church in Winston–Salem, North Carolina. Pastor Lisa graduated from Bridgewater State College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Professional Chemistry and after spending a year of graduate studies as a Teaching Assistant at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, returned to Bridgewater State for her high school teaching certification. She taught chemistry at Barnstable High School on Cape Cod for eight years before attending semina.ry. Pastor Lisa plays piano and guitar and leads the congregational singing with her voice. She has written some of her own music and uses some of that music in worship when appropriate. she also serves on the board of directors for generations. In her spare time, she enjoys making her own jewelry and makes beautiful wire wrapped stones and shells.

Cathy has been a member of St. John Lutheran Church since 1975. She has been active in the congregation in various capacities and serves here with dedication to God and to this church and our community. She became the Administrative Assistant in 2016. She resides in Sterling with her husband Ken. They have one daughter Erica, grandsons Kevin, Zachory and Sean and a great-grandson Kevin, Jr. Cathy graduated from Lasell College in 1965 with an Associate in Arts degree. She served as the Town Clerk for the Town of Sterling for 34 years prior to retiring in 2014. While in office she obtained the prestigious Master Municipal Clerk Certification in 2010 being one of only ten Municipal Clerks in Connecticut, at that time, to attain this Certification. She was also named Town Clerk of the Year for the State of Connecticut in 2008. Prior to becoming the Clerk of Sterling she was a Real Estate Agent with a Graduate Realty Institute Certification. Cathy has served on many boards and commissions for the Town of Sterling, was a Girl Scout Leader in the Town of Sterling as well as a Service Unit Manager and Trainer of new leaders for the Girl Scouts of Connecticut

List of ministries we are involved in: Coordinated food packaging events with The Outreach Program and over the past 6 years we have packaged over 275,000 meals and donated them to Food Pantries in Willimantic County. (You Space available for meetings, beautiful conference room and larger room that seats 150 easily. Wi Fi available; and the larger room includes two Smart TV’s and sound system. Vacation Bible School each summer children’s Ministry Events like Maker Fun Fest and Miracle of Jesus. Assemble and donate Back Packs for Homeless Veterans Donate warm clothes and coats to Generations for the Homeless (as well as hygeine items) Assemble and Donate Personal Care Kits for Hurricane Relief We support and are involved with Killingly Brooklyn Interfaith Council, Annual Christmas Bazaar and organize Annual Women’s Retreats
